On Saturday I cleaned my workspace and took a little inventory of the parts I had. Then on Sunday I tried to begin working. I was going to install the intake manifolds. Couldn't find the nuts to bolt them down, so I went to 2 hardware stores to get the right ones. Then I found the original nuts when I got home. Started tightening the first one down and broke the intake manifold. Oops. Off to a bad start. Especially since the last time I worked on the bus, 3 years ago, I broke it in the same place and the one I broke this week was the replacement for the original that I broke.
Monday I called a local shop and they had a used intake manifold for $20. I also removed the fuel tank filler neck and gas cap because they were rusty, and soaked them overnight in white vinegar. They came out very clean.
Today I will try to put the fuel tank in and possibly work on continuing reassembly of the engine, hopefully I won't break the intake manifold (again, for the 3rd time).
